The US military will deploy the advanced NMESIS anti-ship missile system to Japan’s Yonaguni Island near Taiwan for the first time during major joint drills with Japan , Bloomberg reported, citing sources. According to them, the system will be deployed to Yonaguni during the Keen Sword exercise, scheduled for October 19-29. The Japanese military may also deploy its own anti-ship and air-defense missile systems on the island.
