It has been raining in Tokyo for 34 consecutive days. Rain has fallen in Japan’s capital every day since August 27 , setting a record in the city’s meteorological history. Because of the dense cloud cover, Tokyo has seen almost no sunshine all month. The total duration of sunshine amounted to just 45.8 hours . The record streak may only end in early October. Rain is expected again in Tokyo on September 30 , while another factor is a new typhoon moving toward the Izu Islands.
