The majority of the frozen Russian assets are held in the Belgian depository Euroclear. Brussels fears the legal consequences of a possible confiscation of Russian assets. Franken emphasized that the Belgian Prime Minister, Bart De Wever, will continue to oppose their use for financing Ukraine.
